Monica Iken, founder of September's Mission, lost her husband, Michael, in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He worked as a bond broker on the 84th floor of the South Tower. Like thousands of others, he left for work on that bright September morning and never returned.
Ms. Iken started September's Mission with the help of Felicia Morton, a writer, who helps communicate the goals of the mission. Several key volunteers including Amy Smith of WhiteOak Communications and Scott Warner of Qorvis Communications have devoted their time and energy to furthering our message.
Today, September's Mission is one of the leading 9/11 non-profit Sec. 501 (c) (3) organizations to support the development of a memorial on the former site of the World Trade Center to honor the lives lost on September 11. Monica Iken is a member of the Family Advisory Committee for the Lower Manhattan Development Council.
